Lyon, centre of the world, at the Gadagne museums returns to the Urban International Exhibition in Lyon, from May to November 1914.
This Urban International Exhibition covered an impressive area of 50 hectares in the district of la Mouche, south of the city and at the end of the peninsula Perrache. It had a real international focus and a true universal ambition: 17.232 companies presented their economic and industrial activities.
Lyon fitted brilliantly in the heart of specialized exhibitions of the 20th century and promoted a burning topic: the modern city! It put forward the project of a modern and original city, which solved the problems related to urban development, new needs, hygienist theories and necessary social progress.
Lyon, centre of the world recounts the saga of this unique manifestation of modernity, which opens the doors of Lyon on the twentieth century.
The Gadagne museums are open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 11am to 6.30pm.
