    The Evian Championship

    From September 10, 2015 to September 13, 2015

The Evian Championship: A Growing Competition

The calibre and prestige of today’s Evian Championship is a direct result of the founders’ commitment to showcase the very best in women’s golf. Since the event was first staged in 1994, the championship has grown to become one of the biggest women’s golf tournaments, matching the Women’s US and British Open.

The sport event which takes place in September, in Evian-les-Bains in France, joined the exclusive circle of Major tournaments in 2013. With this entry and its upcoming 20th anniversary in 2014, the Evian had to prove worthy of its new status.

And so it did! The course of the Evian Resort Golf Club was completely redesigned and unveiled in 2013. Boasting stunning views of Lake Geneva and the Alps, the new 18-hole course features a strong signature between lake and mountains with particularly difficult and well defended greens.

    An All-Star Event

The most impressive feature of The Evian Championship is the sheer skill needed to tame the course. The list of past winners speaks to the talent the event has attracted from its start. Helen Alfredsson, Annicka Sörestam, Juli Inkster, Karrie Webb, Laura Davies, Paula Creamer, Jiyai Shin and Ai Miyazato are among an All-Star cast that has won here.

    A Prestigious Championship

As the fifth and final Major, the Evian Championship holds a strategic position at the end of the season. For the 120 of the world’s leading players, the four-day event is the last chance to win the Rolex Annika Major Award, and be crowned the most successful player across all Majors .
    * The five major tournaments are:

    • US Open,
    • Kraft Nabisco Championship,
    • British Open,
    • LPGA Championship,
    • Evian Championship.
