The Vignobles & Découvertes label aims to provide quality services and visits catering to wine tourism. The label appeals to a customer base that appreciates the world of wine without necessarily being connoisseurs, and offers a range of quality services: accommodation, cultural sites, leisure activities, cellar tours, restaurants, exploration of natural spaces, events and more.
Less than 2 hours’ drive from Paris, the vineyard of the Auxerrois spread across 17 communes to the south and the south-east of Auxerre. This historic vineyard is referenced as the most famous vineyard of the Auxerrois region, thanks to the archaeological excavations of Escolives-Sainte-Camille, which found a bas-relief that illustrated a bunch of grapes dating from the 2nd century.
The main appellations of the Auxerrois vineyard (Irancy, Saint-Bris, Bourgogne, Chitry, Bourgogne Côtes-d’Auxerre, Bourgogne Coulanges-la-Vineuse, and Crémant de Bourgogne), are situated on the hillsides dominating the valley of the Yonne. The wines are produced from the burgundian grape varieties: Chardonnay and Aligoté for the white wine, Pinot Noir and Gamay for red wine. We can also find Sauvignon for the white wine which is a recent introduction, and the César for red wine, which sometimes combines with Pinot Noir.
The “Vignoble de l'Auxerrois” destination offers a selection of about fifty wine professionals who will be delighted to welcome you for a moment of conviviality and the discovery of this rich “terroir”. You can visit the hillsides of the vineyard and cherry trees (another specialty of the Auxerrois region), which contains the charming vineyard villages such as Saint-Bris-le-Vineux, Irancy or also Chitry, and Auxerre, titled as Town of Art and History.
