Vignobles & Découvertes: Pays des Bastides and Vignoble du Gaillac

The Vignobles & Découvertes label aims to provide quality services and visits catering to wine tourism. The label appeals to a customer base that appreciates the world of wine without necessarily being connoisseurs, and offers a range of quality services: accommodation, cultural sites, leisure activities, cellar tours, restaurants, exploration of natural spaces, events and more.

Two destinations in South West France have been awarded the label: Cahors Malbec and Pays des Bastides and Vignoble du Gaillac.

Destination: Pays des Bastides and Vignoble du Gaillac

Between the hills and the valley of the Tarn, the land of medieval walled villages and Gaillac vineyards (Pays des Bastides & Vignoble du Gaillac), offers visitors the beauty and richness of towns with a prestigious past, walled villages from the Middle Ages, some perched high on the hillsides and vineyards one thousand years old.

With family or with friends, the Pays des Bastides & Vignoble de Gaillac tempts you to discover a mosaic of different sceneries, things to do, festivities and authentic tastes to savour.  A remarkable architecture where red brick and stonework are the heritage of a rich and lively past reflecting the passionate history of Occitania.

Medieval villages, castles and abbeys, museums, are all witnesses to the history of the land “d’Oc” (south-west France) throughout the centuries.  Occitania full of history is an invitation to the sweet life.
A land situated close to the Episcopal City of Albi designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and between three grand sites of the Midi-Pyrénées: Cordes sur Ciel, Albi and Toulouse.

A diverse countryside, a rich history, interesting natural areas, the produce and the local know-how are the major attributes of the area in terms of its identity, the way of life, and its attractiveness.

The destination offers a selection of 18 participating winemakers, 14 places to stay, 5 touristic sites as well as a choice of 6 restaurants offering typical local cuisine with wine chosen to complement the food.  The visitors will be welcomed by the Tourist Office of Pays des Bastides & Vignoble du Gaillac or by the participating partner’s organisation.
