Town hall and belfry in Douai

    Gothic masterpiece.

The Douai belfry and Town Hall are impressive edifices… The 64-metre belfry, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, has stood proud over the city since the 12th century. With its turrets, pinnacles and skylights, and its golden brown stone surface, the belfry's summit boasts four turrets that culminate in a spire tipped with a sculpture of the Flanders Lion. The Town Hall is located at the foot at the belfry and has an unusual design.
