Previously housed in the Academy buildings, the current Zoological Museum opened its doors in 1893, right in the heart of the German Imperial University. The vast university building, conceived by Professor Goette and the architect Otto Warth, is home to an extensive collection of specimens from all the continents including mounted or preserved animals, skeletons, skins, eggs and nests. Certain parts of the world are reconstituted in scenes that allow us to appreciate the wealth and diversity of natural environments.
