    Rendez-vous in Saint Jean-Baptiste Church

    Above the old port.

The twin bell towers of Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church, which was built between 1636 and 1666, overlook the old port of Bastia.

Corsica’s biggest church has an ornate interior with exquisite furniture (marble pulpit, high altar and statue of John the Baptist, silver tabernacle), impressive organ loft and late-eighteenth-century ceiling paintings by two artists from Florence.

The church has been a listed building since 1999.
