Cloître des Récollets - Maison des Vins

    Old stones and wines.

In the 17th century, in an attempt to revive the catholic faith in the town, a congregation of monks settled in Bergerac and built a cloister, erected around a vast Paulownia tree. The monks remained here until the French Revolution when the monastery was taken over by the Protestants who set up their own church within the chapel.

Today, the cloister is home to the Maison des Vins, (House of Wines), a place for discovering and tasting wines.
