    Beffroi d'Arras

The throne of the Lion of Arras.

Arras's Belfry was listed as a historic monument in 2005. Though construction began in the second half of the 15th century, it took almost a hundred years to complete this 75-metre edifice on top of which stands the majestic Lion of Arras.

The Belfry was heavily damaged during World War I but the reconstruction process was efficient and highly successful. Visitors need only take a lift or walk 43 steps up a staircase to visit the top levels from which the panoramic view of Arras is simply breathtaking.
