All of the Kings of France, from Charles VII to François I, stayed at the Château d'Amboise, an ancient medieval fortress.
Despite the destruction of items of furniture during the French Revolution, the château houses a remarkable collection of decorative art dating from the Gothic and Renaissance eras.
From this architectural masterpiece was born French Renaissance architecture. Leonard de Vinci would later use his genius to breathe new life into the château.
