    Pic du Midi de Bigorre

    Culminating at 2 877 metres, the pic du Midi de Bigorre remains one of the most visited natural sites in the region (alongside the cirque de Gavarnie). One of the reasons this peak is so well-known is the scientific observatory located at its summit; it was actually from this point that than NASA was able to map out the lunar surface.

    Your trip to the top will reveal an Astronomy Centre, dedicated to the history of the observatory, from which you can see the stars from a vantage point unlike any other on the planet's surface...
