Musée de l'Image d'Epinal (Image Museum of Epinal)

    Musée de l'Image d'Epinal - Epinal's Pictures

Epinal created the Musée de l’Image in 2003, which today houses one of the largest collections of popular French and international images from the 17th century to modern day: 110,000 images with the recent purchase of the Henri George collection.

The museum also explores the multiple links between the images in its collections and modern images, photographs, atmospheres, works of art, and advertising, thanks to the exhibition of work by contemporary artists.

The 400sqm permanent exhibition room lays out the history of popular imagery of the 17th century to the modern day: engravers, picture/image centres, and so on. It then explains the functions of imagery: creativity, playing, education, selling ...

For conservation reasons, the images in the permanent room are replaced every six months. You can therefore come back to the museum several times, it is never the same twice!
Several temporary exhibitions are also offered each year.
