    Rendez-vous à Montivilliers Abbey

    Life in mediaeval Normandy.

Montivilliers Abbey was founded for nuns by Saint Philibert in 684. After falling into decline at the time of the French Revolution, the structure was fully restored between 1989 and 2000 but retains traces of its Romanesque and Gothic past.
An audio guide takes you through the cloister, chapter house, dormitory and refectory, retracing the abbey’s history, architecture and mediaeval community, which was organised around prayer, study and manual labour.
